Charlotte Hammond lived to be 99 years old and became quite wealthy. She managed her own business affairs, which included a cotton plantation and merchant mills. (See "Historic Camden" Vol. 2, page 424). Relatives called her "Aunt Collins". At Christmas dinners, she would entertain all the family and put a $100 bill under each plate.
The Collins place is about 6 miles from Liberty Hill, about 15 miles north of Camden on the headwaters of White Oak Creek.
Charlotte married Lewis Collins, son of Lewis Collins and Elizabeth Unknown. (Lewis Collins was born in 1763 and died on 8 Feb 1815.)
