"Hammond Samuel, S21807, SC & VA Line, he was b in Richmond VA & while at school in Prince William Co VA he enl & afterwards returned to his father in Richmond Co VA & also enl there & later enl in SC & srv under Col LeRoy Hammond (no relationship stated), he appl 31 Oct 1832 Richland Dist SC aged 75, he d in 1842 in SC, a daughter Mary A. Washington had a son Hugh V. Washington"
