Mary G. Burford Hammond is buried beside her husband Rawleigh Hammond in the Hammond Cemetery near Heath Springs, SC. Her tombstone has the following inscription:
"Sacred to the memory of Mary G. Hammond, wife of Raleigh Hammond, born October 21st, 1765 and departed this life August 21st, 1823, after an illness of 7 days, aged 51 years and 10 months. She was a Baptist by profession and died in the faith."

Mary married Rawleigh Hammond, son of Samuel Morris Hammond and Mary Jenkins, on 7 Aug 1781 in Warren County, North Carolina. (Rawleigh Hammond was born on 11 May 1756 in Fairfax County, Virginia, died on 24 Aug 1839 in Kershaw County, South Carolina and was buried in Old Hammond Cemetary, Beaver Creek Area of Kershaw Co., SC.)
