Mildred Terrell ¹

  General Notes:

In 1789, Mildred Terell Burford wrote the following letter to her daughter, Mary Burford Hammond, wife of Rawleigh Hammond.
"To Raughley Hammond
in South Carolina
near Camden
Favor of Jno. ...don"
"Daughter: I gladly embrace this favourable opportunity to inform you that we are all in tolerable good health at present. (We are) ..hoping that these few lines will find you and the rest of your family in the same state of health. Your sister Suzannah has got a fine Daughter a week old day before yeaterday and has been very hearty ever since. Martha Meard looks every day to have her little one.
I hope to see you at the fall, for I think the time long that you are gone. I want to see you and the children the most in the world but I am afraid that you cant bring them with you in the fall. Pray dont fail coming.
I have nothing strange to write you. Daniel is living on the County line. Your uncle Miles, your brother, and your sister join your father and myself in love to you and Rawley and the children.
Nothing more but remains your ever loving Mother till Death do us part,

NB I have been very sick myself but I am getting well again. Thank God for it. Great Rachel and Aggy desire to be remembered to you and Rawley and the children...... Jacob. Pray remember me to Mr. Hammond and his wife and Charlotte Collins."

Mildred married Phillip Burford, son of Daniel Burford and Sarah Miles. (Phillip Burford was born in 1723 in Virginia and died on 11 Feb 1796 in Warren Co., NC, USA.)
