1. Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw SC, is located on Hwy 341, 1.3 miles north of intersection of Hwy 341 and SC State Road number 20.
2. Vannie Morgan's tombstone is a small, plain, cement marker, at the left corner, closest to the church and the road.
3. At the opposite corner of the cemetary is a similarly styled marker for Esther Jean Morgan, date is illegible.
4. In 1920, Vannie and Bessie Phillips lived in a rented home on Kershaw-Jefferson Road in Lancaster County, SC. Vannie was a farmer. (Source: 1920 Census)
5. The 1930 Census shows that Vannie rented a home on Taxahaw Road in Lancaster County, SC. His wife's name was Carmie. Her age in 1930 is 28, and her first marriage was when she was 20. So, Vannie's wife Bessie must have died between 1920 and 1922.
6. The 1900 Census, when Vannie was 10, shows that he and his sister(?) Minnie lived with their grandparents, Samuel and Gatsy Taylor Welsh, in Kershaw County, SC.

Vannie next married Carmie Holden, daughter of Alexander "Aleck" Holden and Lou Ella Sims. (Carmie Holden was born on 1 Aug 1901, died on 10 May 1975 in Lancaster Hospital, Lancaster Co., SC, USA and was buried in Kershaw Cemetery, Lancaster Co, SC.)
