William Burrell PHILLIPS owned slaves, noted early ages on US Census Slave Schedule. One was named Peter PHILLIPS, whose death certificate gave the following data: Died of "old age" in Kershaw, Flat Creek Township, Lancaster County, SC on 10 March 1929. No date of birth was known, but age was given as 87 yrs old. No father was listed, but mother was named as Sulk HILTONS. This most likely was a female slave from Eliza HILTON's family.
