Brummet Mobley was a veteran of the Civil War. His wife Mary died while the children were young. His sister was living in the house taking care of his children when Sherman's army came through. They found two yankee soldiers killed not far from the Mobley home. The soldiersd went to the house and talked to his sister Nora, and told her to get the children out of the house. She got them out and walked to Pleasant Hill. The yankees burned the house and everything in it.
Brummett married Mary A. Bruce, daughter of James Bruce and Mary Terry. (Mary A. Bruce was born about 1835.)
Brummett next married Minnie Bailey.
