Caswell Mobley resided with his family in Lancaster County, South Carolina. His home was a few miles north of Pleasant Hill on the old Potter's road, leading to the Buford monument. The house is a large, one story home with a porch running all the way across. It had a beautiful rambling red rose that almost covered one end of the porch. Mr. Potter owned the house at one time. Mrs. Charlie Robertson owned the house in 1965. In 1854 Eli Bishop sold the place to Captain James M. Ingram, who then sold it to William Cauthen, who married Nancy Bruce, daughter of James and Terry Bruce. They had one son, Paschel, and two daughters. William Cauthen died in the Civil War and Nancy later married Hiram Mobley. The old place later became Woodville Female Academy. ![]() Caswell married Mary Terry. |
