GASTONIA - Pearline Hammond Hayes, 86, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006.
Born April 5, 1920, in Heath Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Bessie Gay Hammond. She was married to the late Furman Harold Hayes. She was a homemaker. She was an active church member and a pianist for Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster. She was a primary and Vacation Bible School teacher at First Baptist Church in Gastonia and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia in her later years.
Survivors include two sons, W. Kenneth Hayes and his wife, Carolyn, and Harold E. Hayes, both of Gastonia; two sisters, "Neet" Moore and Becky McManus, both of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant sister, Hannah J. Hammond; and six brothers, Charlton, Mills, John, Melvin, Ross and Joe Hammond.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lancaster Memorial Park.
